Karin Gonzalez
Occupational Therapist
“I have a passion for meeting people where they are and helping them explore and reach their personal goals in order to maximize their quality of life.”
Qualifications and Experience
Karin graduated from the University of Western Sydney in 2010 with a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy (Honours) and has a clinical background in neurological rehabilitation.
Professional Interests
During Karin’s time working for Brain Injury Rehabilitation Services at Westmead Hospital, Karin was able to undertake training in the Perceive, Recall, Plan, Perform (PRPP) system of task analysis, which has served as an effective guide for her therapy interventions. In her years of experience, Karin has learnt that regardless of the challenges that people are faced with, there is always a way to improve their quality of life and engagement in their personal interests. As such, she has a passion for discovering an individual’s interests and using them to help engage the person in exploring, learning, and growing their life skills.
Creative Skills
Karin believes everyone has creative skills that give their life colour; for Karin it’s music, storytelling, cooking, and blending of essential oils. Karin grew up singing in both choir’s and in a band, which was a wonderful experience hearing people harmonize and compose music. Karin loves how reading can transport you to another time and place and likes to offer this experience to children so they can develop a love for reading. Karin has a certificate in Aromatherapy as part of a Diploma in Integrated Body Therapies. Karin particularly enjoys blending essential oils and using them in massage, diffusing them in the home and creating scents to assist with regulating emotions. Oils can create a more uplifting or calming environment and help to stimulate changes in mood. Karin is excited to be practicing in a clinic that values creativity as it enables our clients to have fun! We learn best when we are having fun.
